In traditional airborne photogrammetry, a fixed-wing aircraft is used for large format images from different perspectives over the stockpile area.

Although this does deal with many safety issues associated with ground modelling and is a much-preferred method, the biggest problem is the cost. This can range between $6,000 to $10,000 depending on site size.

Sky Tech EA now have technologies and state of the art software for a new approach to extracting 3-D models and accurate volume calculations from non-metric cameras that are now enabling low-cost, accurate data extraction.
